Louise Ludlow has provided CIKA with the following update on the collaborations that are developing between members of the biobanking community.
Networking at the Australasian Biobanking Network Association annual conference
In October, Louise Ludlow and Elena Fernandez from the Children’s Cancer Centre Biobank attended the 19th annual meeting of the Australasian Biobanking Network Association “Biobanking: Blue Sky Horizons”, held in Scarborough, Perth.
We appreciated the opportunity to reconnect in person and finally meet face-to-face with new members of our biobanking community. The conference provided an opportunity to learn, network and expand our collaborative opportunities. We gained new ideas to improve our daily operations and laboratory processing techniques. Elena presented a poster titled “Advancing Biospecimen Applications in the Children’s Cancer Centre Biobank” which was well received. Louise delivered an oral presentation on the use of our information and consent video and was elected to Treasurer of the association.
The morning before the conference our ANZCHOG-Biobanking Network had the opportunity to visit the team at Telethon Kids Cancer Biobank. It was an amazing experience to visit the biobank and the Brain Tumour Research group and discuss the importance of integrated working and our role as a fundamental stakeholder in the research sector.
