Light Cycler

The new Lightcycler 480 Real Time PCR provides a powerful and rapid way to detect and measure many of the gene changes that occur in cancer.  The technology permits the testing of many samples and many genes simultaneously and so improves the speed and efficiency with which researchers can proceed with their investigations. In many instances, the findings made using this technology can lead directly to new tests that can be applied in the search for a cure to a range of childhood cancers.  The technology this machine provides can be broadly applied and can make an immediate and significant contribution to aiding the work of the Cancer Research Group at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

This machine was purchased with a donation of over $34,000 from the Macarthur and District Lions Club which has long been a CIKA supporter..
