Christmas Luncheon 2012

The annual Focus Group Christmas luncheon is the highlight of the CIKA year. It is a time when good friends reflect on the year past, celebrate Christmas and share with the CIKA team the results of the fund raising for the year. CIKA was well represented at the 2012 event, with ten members attending.

The Gisborne golf club was awash with donated goods for the monster raffle, and the beautifully decorated tables added to the festive spirit. Guests were welcomed by President, Chris Rhodes, who spoke on behalf of all the Focus members whose commitment to CIKA simply goes from strength to strength. It has been a very hectic year for the Group, and the hard work and enthusiasm of its members enabled Chris to present CIKA with a cheque for $13,000, which included $4,000 raised by Lesley McKibbin and her team of cyclists.

Gwen and Andy Kakafikas, who have been supporting CIKA for many years, were again most generous with a $1,000 donation, presented at the luncheon. CIKA president, Sandra Lehrer, was overwhelmed by the size of the donations but duly responded with the very grateful thanks of all the CIKA team. We were also fortunate to have Andrew and Christine Duyvestyn in attendance. Andrew gave an overview of the fund-raising coach drive from Port Fairy to Melbourne that will be underway mid 2013.

All of the CIKA team value the support and commitment that the Focus members show for CIKA. Although the Group is primarily a social club, but they have taken the CIKA cause to heart with a real passion.
