A Well Deserved Award

Faye and Michael Love have been CIKA members for many years during which they have given of their time and energy to support us in our fundraising efforts.  Their dedication was recognised at the Committee end-of-year luncheon last December when they were jointly presented with the CIKA Champions Award for 2021.

Faye has recently written of their reasons for becoming members of the CIKA team.

Michael and I joined CIKA in 1990 after our eldest daughter Fiona completed fourteen months of treatment for Ewing Sarcoma.  We were grateful for Fiona’s care from the doctors and staff at The RCH and wanted to help to raise funds for vital childhood cancer research.

Over our time at CIKA we have made special friendships with other members of this group who understand the emotions experienced by the parents of a child who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Sadly we lost Fiona in 2016 to uterine cancer; we will always treasure the 27 extra years she was able to spend with us living her life to the full and never wasting a moment.

Thank you Faye and Michael for your years of support.
