Congratulations Christine

Well deserved congratulations are extended to CIKA member Christine Duyvestyn who was recently the recipient of a gold award for her work as a trustee of the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation.  Christine has been a member of Lions for sixteen years and has held the position of Cancer Chair for the Lions V2 for ten years, in addition to which she has held the role of Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation Trustee for three years.

Christine and her husband Andrew have long nurtured a passion to support research into finding cures for the wide range of cancers that continue to afflict so many children and teenagers.  This passion had its genesis in the diagnosis of their son Dean with a Wilms tumour in 1976.  Happily, Dean is now well, happily married and the father of two grown children.  He is also following in his parents’ footsteps as a supporter of CIKA.

Christine and Andrew have been involved with CIKA and the Royal Children’s Hospital for twenty seven years and have ran the annual Old Time Wood Days for the last twenty seven years; one of CIKA s major annual fundraisers. We are all proud of the valuable contribution that Christine has made to the Lions Childhood Cancer Research project and we extend congratulations from all the members of the CIKA committee.
