A Great Day for All

Sunday May 31 saw The Box Hill Silk Road Lions Club hold their second Fun Run for Hope to raise funds for CIKA. Here is their report on the event.

On a cool crisp morning of 31 May 2026, 230 Melburnians joined Fun Run for Hope, organised by the Box Hill Silk Road Lions Club to raise funds for CIKA and the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation. The funds raised will be used for childhood cancer research which has saved many young lives. This event was also proudly sponsored by LingoAce, a Chinese language academy also located in Box Hill.

Through the collective efforts of all participants, the event successfully raised $8,066 through the ticket sales. Every dollar raised will be donated to the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital, supporting clinical research programs aimed at improving outcomes for children battling cancer and advancing future medical breakthroughs.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the entire organising team. From the initial planning stages through to event-day execution, every detail reflected the passion, commitment, and generosity of the volunteers, ensuring that all participants experienced the warmth and power of community service.

The event was attended by distinguished guests from government, charitable organisations, business, and the broader community, who came together to witness this meaningful occasion.

Their presence not only added significance to the event but also reflected the strong commitment of government, community organisations, and society at large to supporting children affected by cancer.
