Inaugural Meeting of the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium

In November Louise Ludlow (CCC Biobank Coordinator) took part in the inaugural meeting of the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium (VPCC). Information about the VPCC can be found here.

Here is Louise’s report on the VPCC.

The VPCC partnership organisations are The Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Children’s Hospital, Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Monash University, University of Melbourne, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and the Children’s Cancer Foundation.  The VPCC was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Children’s Cancer Foundation and funding from the Australian Government’s Medical Research Future Fund.

We heard from childhood cancer investigators from these organisations who have joined forces to drive impactful and interdisciplinary research, improve medical care, and train the childhood cancer leaders of tomorrow. Scientific Advisory Board Member, Professor Brandon Wainwright ,AM., from The University of Queensland, delivered the keynote address. Researchers from across the VPCC consortium had the privilege of hearing from five members of the Patient and Family Advisory Committee. It was extremely rewarding to learn more about the many research projects that are being accomplished using samples from our Children’s Cancer Centre Biobank.
