CIKA Passes the Four Million Dollar Mark

CIKA was founded in April 1980 by three families, with the aim of increasing awareness of cancer in children and providing financial support to aid research into children’s cancer.

Starting small by raising $2,000 in 1980, the following year saw that amount increase almost tenfold with $19,163 resulting from the efforts of CIKA’s growing band of volunteers.  The new millennium saw CIKA’s fundraising reach six figures at $130,165, almost double the amount raised in 1999.  CIKA has continued to raise over $100,000 every year since then and by the end of last year the combined total had passed the four million dollar mark.  This could not have been possible without the tireless support of our volunteers and the people who support them by attending CIKA functions, purchasing goods on our stalls, running events of their own or donating goods, services or cash.  Words are insufficient to express our gratitude to these wonderful people who really are making a difference.

We always welcome ‘new blood’ so if you would like to join us please contact our president by email to president@cika.org.au or by having a chat with any member of the CIKA team whose names can be found here.
